Visit our full service stores
Our Anacortes location, ESI North, is our primary retail store, with an extensive inventory of LiFePO4 lithium batteries for boat and RV use, solar equipment, and Seahawk and Interlux Brightsides and epoxy paints. We also carry a full range of electrical parts and supplies, plus a dedicated fishing tackle and bait shop. As a full service Victron Energy dealer, we offer expert installations. Our La Conner store, ESI South, carries marine lubricants including Delo, Hy-Nautic, and Yamalube, and both locations are proud dealers of Hempel Silic One and Hempaspeed bottom paint.
Both stores sit inside working boatyards, which is the point: the counter is fifty feet from the technicians using the same parts. If it is not on the shelf we will tell you what does work instead.

Fitted as well as sold
Anything we sell, we can fit. Marine electrical and lithium installation is done to a written standard by technicians certified through our own training programme — so a battery bought over the counter does not have to become your problem to wire. Call (360) 610-7577.
How we choose
We know exactly what we sell, and how it performs
Everything on these shelves is here because we read about it first, and then ran it on boats. We test regularly — and marine manufacturers select us to test for them.
We read the data
When we tell you a gear lube still protects a lower unit with fifteen percent water in it, that is AMSOIL’s published result under ASTM 3233 and D892 — a number off a test, not a line off the bottle. When we put an EPOCH bank in a boat, we have read that model’s cranking rating and what its warranty actually covers.
We test it ourselves
Regularly, on working boats in the Salish Sea — the same currents, the same fouling pressure and the same season our customers run in. A data sheet tells you what a product does in a laboratory. A season on a hull tells you what it does here.
Manufacturers select us to test
We test regularly, and marine manufacturers select us to do it for them. It is a relationship earned by reporting honestly — including when the answer is not the one they were hoping for. What reaches our shelf has been run first.
The people who choose what we sell are the people who fit it, in the same building. That is the advantage of a chandlery inside a working yard: the counter and the bench are the same trade, and nothing reaches the shelf that our own technicians would not put on a customer’s boat.
AMSOIL dealer
Why we stock AMSOIL
A marine engine is not a car engine working somewhere damp. AMSOIL’s own figure: a petrol marine engine turns roughly 5,000 rpm to push a boat at 26 knots, where a car at 60 mph is turning about 2,000. It holds that load for hours, in salt air, with water on every side of it.
The part that decides it for us is corrosion. Rust and corrosion protection are not natural properties of motor oil — they are inhibitors a manufacturer chooses to engineer in, and AMSOIL engineers them in. In our water that is the whole argument. Moisture makes rust, rust inside an engine behaves like sandpaper on bearings, cylinder walls and rings, and corrosion goes after aluminium pistons.
Full synthetic is now the right answer for a hard-working diesel, and it was not always. Early on the engine makers did not call for synthetics largely because the range of viscosities was not there. That has been solved. With the correct grade available, what you are buying is lower friction, measurably less wear, quieter running and performance that holds up under sustained load — which is exactly what a boat asks of an engine.
Four-stroke petrol
AMSOIL Marine Engine Oil in 10W-30, 10W-40 and 25W-40 synthetic blend. NMMA certified, exceeding the FC-W (Four Cycle – Water) catalyst-compatible standard for four-stroke outboards, inboards, sterndrives and personal watercraft. AMSOIL publishes it as a replacement for engine-branded oils including Mercury/MerCruiser, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Volvo-Penta, Johnson/Evinrude, Tohatsu and BRP.
Diesel
AMSOIL 15W-40 Synthetic Heavy-Duty Diesel and Marine Oil — API CI-4+, ACEA E7 and JASO DH-1, listed by AMSOIL for Yanmar, Cat, Cummins, MAN, MTU and Volvo. We are a Gold-Level Certified Yanmar dealer, so the engines we repower are on that list.
Lower units and gear oil
A lower unit takes water. AMSOIL publish that their 75W-90 Synthetic Marine Gear Lube still protects against power loss and gear wear with up to 15% water contamination — their own testing, to ASTM 3233 and D892. It keeps a film and resists foaming with water already in it, which is the whole problem with a leaking gearcase. API GL-4 and GL-5, extreme-pressure additives for high-torque fast-accelerating engines and the shock loading that comes off cavitation. It prevents rust, is compatible with aluminium, copper and brass, and promotes long seal life — so it also helps keep the water out in the first place.
Two-stroke at 100:1
AMSOIL 100:1 Pre-Mix Synthetic Two-Stroke Outboard Oil holds up at a 100:1 mix — fewer emissions than oils mixed at 50:1, and half the oil per gallon of fuel. Low-temperature dispersants keep varnish and carbon off the plugs, it burns clean rather than smoking, and it inhibits the rust and corrosion that come with the territory.
It keeps your factory warranty intact
AMSOIL marine oils are WARRANTY SECURE — running them does not put the engine manufacturer’s warranty at risk. That matters at a yard that warrants its own work.
Ask us which one your engine takes
Oil selection is specification, not preference. The 15W-40 diesel, for one, is not catalyst compatible and does not belong in an engine with DPF or SCR aftertreatment. Tell us the engine and we will tell you the oil — and change it for you while the boat is here.
Free for every customer
A complimentary 18-point inspection
An expert technician tests the boat’s systems and writes up every point as Excellent, Good, Monitor, Attention or Critical — a written report telling you what is sound, what to keep an eye on, and what has to be dealt with before she goes back in the water. Free with every job.
